Native lands used for nuclear tests, battery ranges
More than 900,000 acres of Alaska Native lands and more than 16 Indian reservations are used for nuclear test sites and battery ranges. On Pine Ridge alone, more than 300,000 acres are used as a gunnery range, with little to no compensation, destroying land, wildlife, flora, and fauna (Nies, 1996).
